      Payment
Fees for members will be charged to your club account. Non-members should include a check with their application. Children cannot be enrolled until full payment is received..

      CYC Boats
The Carolina Yacht Club owns 12 Optimists, 4 Sunfish, 4 Lasers, and 6 420’s. At times, depending on the ages and skills of students enrolled, the club’s fleet cannot adequately support the number of students in each class. It is therefore important for students who have access to a personal boat to bring it with them to their scheduled course. Reduced fees will be handled on an individual basis for students supplying their own boat; however, it is required that all students 100lbs or less receive instruction in an Optimist.

      Life jackets, Shoes, and Sunscreen
For obvious safety reasons, it is required that all program participants own and wear a Type III US Coast Guard approved life jacket. Students also need to bring shoes that can be worn in the water and waterproof sunscreen—SPF 45 is recommended.

      Swim Test
All students must be able to swim, tread water, and don a life jacket while in the water. Please call Rob Wright with any concerns.

      Drop Off and Pick Up
Please drop off and pick up junior sailors at the sound-side gazebo. Sailing Instructors will be on hand to greet the sailors. When picking up your child, please be aware that it is very important for all sailors to remain in class until all boats are put away. Additionally, it is important that you pick up your child on time so our instructors can leave for lunch or home on time.

      Race Volunteers
As a program, we are trying to put a lot of emphasis on parent volunteers for Tuesday afternoon Junior Races. It is very important that sailors participating in the series have parental support on and off the water. One of the simplest ways to accomplish this is to come to the club, watch, and cheer for your junior sailors from our race committee stand overlooking beautiful Banks Channel. By being a spectator, parents can understand the sport of sailing more clearly and can witness the progress of their junior sailors from the program’s instruction. To be more involved, parents can be trained to assist dockmasters, to help safety boats, and to assist the race committee. Please indicate on the application if you are interested in any of these duties, and we look forward to seeing many parents on Tuesday afternoons.

      Weather
As with any sailing program, refunds cannot be given for days missed sailing due to poor weather conditions. Safety is our ultimate priority and weather judgment will be our trained instructors’ call. Other activities will be implemented during a day of poor weather such as knot tying, sailing stories and sailing games.
