Sailing Assistants
Students enrolled in the CYC Sailing Program and who have shown dedication to the sport of sailing are eligible to become Jr. Sailing Assistants. These students make a valuable contribution to the program by assisting instructors and dockmasters in their daily tasks. In return, the assistants gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become dockmasters and instructors once they get older. The selection of Sailing Assistants is limited, so those interested should contact the Sailing Director.
Jr. Racing Series
On Tuesday afteOn Tuesday afternoons, the Jr. Sailing Staff will organize and run
the 2009 CYC Junior Racing Series. Competition is open and encouraged
to all club members and program participants who have not reached
their 19th birthday in the current calendar year. It is our goal to
make this competition open to all levels of sailing, beginner to
advance, in the classes of Optimist, Sunfish, Laser Radial, and Full
Rig Laser. Sailors are expected to have their boats rigged and ready
to race by 1pm. Weather and time permitting, three races will be
attempted every Tuesday afternoon beginning June 3rd. The overall
series score will be determined using a sailor’s best 15 finishes,
and trophies will be awarded in each class at the end of the summer
during the Junior Sailing Awards Banquet. The Junior Racing Series is
always a lot of fun, and it also allows students and parents the
opportunity to get involved in the sport of sailing.
Funsail
As is becoming tradition at the CYC, Thursday evenings will once again
be reserved for Funsail beginning at 6pm. Sailors of all ages and levels

they have fun in doing so. This is a family event, so bring everyone,
