Beginning Sailing 101 (June 14-June 25), (June 28 – July 9), (July 12-July 23)
Morning Classes are more suitable for beginning sailing due to less wind and are structured for children at least 8 years old who are at a beginner level of sailing. The Optimist will be the primary boat used to familiarize children on how to: rig, de-rig, launch, return to shore, tack, jibe, trim the sail, steer, and recover from capsizing. Additional topics that will be addressed are how to tie various knots and how to recognize weather conditions. Upon completion, students should feel confident in sailing on all points of sail.

Intermediate Sailing 103 (June 28 – July 9), (July 12 - July 23)
Classes will be designated for intermediate classes due to the increase in sea breeze. These classes are structured for children 11 and older or those that have already mastered the fundamentals of sailing. Students will further develop skills taught in the Beginning class and will be given introductions to right-of-way rules and basic sailboat racing. Regardless of whether students decide to continue along a competitive track, the racing instruction is fun for the students and gives them extra confidence in the skills they have learned. Optimists will be the primary boat used for instruction. If ready, with instructor‘s discretion students will be given the opportunity to move up to Lasers.
